Alessandro Pajno was born in Palermo, August 31, 1948. Married, three children.
After public competition, he has firstly been prosecutor of the State, State Attorney, State Councillor, and is now President of the Chamber of the Council of State.
He has held the positions of Secretary General of the Council of State, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Special Commissioner for the Government for the completion of administrative federalism. He was Head of Cabinet of Ministers of Mattarella (Education), Jervolino (Education) and Ciampi (Treasury, Budget and Economic Planning). In the XV legislature – Prodi government – has held the position of Secretary of the Interior, and was designated by the Council of Ministers to be responsible for the planning and coordination of the implementation process of legislative simplification established by the law no. 246/2005.
He has also been a member of the Committee of strategic planning for the introduction of the Euro, and of the Political and Legal Committee of the National Research Council. He is currently a member of the Central Tax Commission and the Italian Section of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences.
He has taught, among other things, at the School of Postgraduate Studies on Public Administration of the University of Bologna, at the Specialization School for Legal Professions, University of Rome “La Sapienza”, at the Faculty of Engineering of the University Palermo-Degree in Engineering Management at the School of Public Administration, at the School of University Studies and Specialization S. Anna of Pisa.
He is author of numerous publications on the topics of the administrative organization, administrative activity, administrative justice, organization of the education service and the autonomy of educational institutions.
