The Italian university system is undergoing a wide-reaching reform pursuant to Law No. 240 of 30 December 2010. All components of the university system are facing major functional and structural changes, as a result of decision-making processes that have also been profoundly amended. The reform of the university system is still far from being finalised, and must be disciplined. To this end, the roles and responsibilities of the units of the university system require fundamental rethinking, beginning with the Central Government.
