Philosophical research and historiography draw complex relationships between history and memory. When those relations are examined from the perspective of law, complexity does not fade: indeed, it becomes even more evident. In particular, constitutional law looks to history and memory both from the point of view of conservation and from that of cancellation, constantly swinging between the desire to bind to the past and the desire to transcend it.
